GPO not logging off disconnected sessions from AVD hosts

I've created a GPO that does the following and is assigned to a single AVD host. However it's not logging off disconnected sessions and in turn we believe is not allowing for our scaling plans on this host to work as it should. A little insight, we use only Remote Apps on the AVD hosts.Computer Config:Windows Components/Remote Desktop Services/Remote Desktop Session Host/Session Time Limits- End a disconnected sessions set to 30 minutes.- RemoteApp session logoff delay set to 30 minutesI don't believe the second one is needed as I have two sessions still showing disconnected in the host for 5

  2. Increasing virtual memory on set of AVD sessions

    Hello everyone

I have a customer for whom we have provisioned 80-90 numbers of Azure Virtual desktops in Azure pooled environment.

After we put it in production, users faced performance issue with slowness of system and overrun of application based buffer size. When I drilled down into some logs, i saw this is somehow connected with virtual memory.

I checked the virtual memory of the machines and saw for 8GB RAM is set with 1GB of virtual memory (against the suggested to set it atleast of 1.5 times of the memory of machines) ie. 1024x8x1.5 = 12,288 MB.

Now i want to set this new virtual memory sizing on all the 90 machines. Can I somehow automate this using azure or powershell so that this can be resized to all the AVD machines in the Host pool. Please advise on this

    Thank you

    Nik

    RDS 2016 Session Host Capacity

    Hello All,

We are planning to configure one session host server with 16 GB RAM with 4 core processor. We need to publish only MS office basic APPS like word, excel, power point, out look etc. Please help us calculate the session host
    capacity

    • What is the optimal number of Session per host and What is the Assumption or Rationale behind that
    • How is the Server Sizing calculated and what is the MS reference for that calculation along with assumptions and rationale to arrive at those Sizing
    • What is the Redundancy planned to manage the load during the Server Maintenance / failure?
    • What is the logic to have the Auto scaling enabled ?

Shutdown or Log off in a Citrix Windows 10 VDI session

    Hi Community gurus,

Hoping you could advise. During the outbreak, most of my teams are working from home and being offered a Windows 10 VDI remote login on Citrix server. In my organisation, there is a token limit and therefore we are not allowed to stay in the session
for too long but only carry out time card logging routine which takes about 5 - 10 minutes depending on individual operations. People who have logged in for prolong period get reported to their mangers who then advise to shorten the session as much as they
    can.

Some of them did get reported but mainly was because they did not disconnect the session properly, and still wondered how to disconnect the session properly without occupying the server resources.

Luckily I have never been in the list, and helped myself a quick short which runs "shutdown.exe -s -f -t 0".

This has run perfectly and my Manger did notice I was never in the reporting list and wondered how I did it.

Therefore I shared with my team with this quick shortcut, however, one of my seniors suggested that it's betters to use shutdown.exe -l -f 0

To me, his advice was to log off the session, instead of shutting down, but I wondered that in a shared virtual machine session(s), is there really difference on log off and shutdown as the shutdown command does not appear to shut the server down, but disconnecting
my session so that others have more resources when needed.

Would any one be able to advise?

    Thank you in advance.
