Windows 10: Getting an error "class not registered" while installing wsl in windows 11

I am trying to install wsl in PowerShell and cmd but i am getting this error "Class not registered Error code: Wsl/CallMsi/REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG "I have reinstalled windows and still getting the same error.Can anyone have the solution?

Cannot get WSL to work in Windows 11

I am not certain under what topic I should report this, however, I can't not get any Linux distros to work. At one point WSL was working great. I had Kali Linux and Ubuntu running smoothly and then at some point, I'm not sure when because there went a few months where I just didn't use either distro, they seemed to disappear from my computer all together. I have gone through all of the Microsoft LEARN troubleshooting pages, all of the Windows 11 troubleshooting and nothing is helping. I have checked to make sure that virtualization is turned on in control panel as well as in the BIOS. I have tried to delete, uninstall, reinstall WSL to no avail. I can't do anything with the WSL command. Every time I execute any WSL command (wsl --uninstall; wsl --install, wsl --version; wsl) i get the following error message:

Class not registered

Error code: Wsl/CallMsi/REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG



C:\Users\donoh>wsl --uninstall

Class not registered

Error code: Wsl/CallMsi/REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG



C:\Users\donoh>wsl --update

Class not registered

Error code: Wsl/CallMsi/REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG



C:\Users\donoh>wsl --install

Class not registered

Error code: Wsl/CallMsi/REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG

Has anyone else experienced this issue AND found a solution? Below is my system information and I'm happy to provide any other info requested.

Error code: Wsl/ERROR_SERVICE_DOES_NOT_EXIST | WSL seems to be broken after upgrading to Windows 11

Hi Microsoft Team,

I recently upgraded to Windows 11 and attempted to install Docker. However, upon installation, I encountered difficulties launching Docker due to issues with WSL.

WSL seems to be broken in my system.

when I run below command in command prompt (admin mode) :

wsl --list --verbose

I get below error :

The specified service does not exist as an installed service.

Error code: Wsl/ERROR_SERVICE_DOES_NOT_EXIST

Therefore, I uninstalled docker and WSL.

Turned off below windows features:

1. Hyper-V
   
2. Virtual Machine Platform
   
3. Windows HyperVisor Platform
   
4. Windows SubSystem for Linux
   

Rebooted.

Turned on the above windows feature and installed Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS from Microsoft Store.

Rebooted.

But its still not working.

when I run below command again :

wsl --list --verbose

It still gives the same error.

Could someone assist with this query, please ?
