Frequent and random appearing BSOD 'internal power error'.

    History
Since a couple of months, I have been getting BSOD error. At the beginning very rarely, but later on more frequent.
The error is always the same “Internal power errror” and then the system reboots.

It happens seemingly random. That is, I have not yet detected a clear link between an action, or a specific program/game, or situation.

It is my home PC, which I use myself and als other family members during the day. (on their own account)
I am not always around when de BSOD appear. This also means, that I do not know when it started exactly. I was only informed of the BSOD appearing some months after the initial BSOD.

The last few week, the BSD appears up to 10 times a day.

    My initial actions
First, I did the normal stuff: clean PC, registry, check/change/update drivers, virus/malware checks, memory tests, SDD/HD tests. That did not work or find any problems.

I then decided to do a new install. (I had win10 for some time now, after the upgrade from windows 7. A clean re-install seemed as the next locigal step.)

    Follow up actions
On November 4th, I re-installed windows 10 with the option of keeping my personal documents.
I hoped this would work, but it didn't. The BSOD errors still appear. Approximately 5 times a day now.

What I did since the reinstall:
    • I installed some programs I use regularly (ms office, games, tools, anti-virus).
    • I updated windows10 completely
    • I tried 3 different drivers for my graphics card
    • I uninstalled DeamonTools Light.
    • I reviewed the temperatures. They seem normal
    • I opened the PC case, and checked all the wires and connectors. All seems well.
    • I removed my DVD burner and my BluRay burner. That did not stop the BSOD.
    • I changed my SSD drive (boot drive) to a different SATA controller (from the AMD SB750 to the Gigabyte SATA2 driver). The SDD was detected, but windows 10 did not boot further. It gave BSOD error “inaccessible boot device”, so I installed the SSD driver back to the SB750 SATA controller.

    Current situation
As of now, nothing has helped so far.
The error is always “Internal power errror” after which the system reboots. According to the event viewer, the drivers responsible(?) are always "storport.sys" together with "ntoskrnl.sys".

I hope you can help me in identifying and solving the problem.

Regards and thanks in advance for any helpfull advice!

    :)

Frequent and random appearing BSOD 'internal power error'.

The problem is that amdxata.sys (your storage driver) is malfunctioning.

Specifically, it attempted to complete a power request when there were no outstanding requests.

I would suggest making sure you have the latest version installed, try updating from Gigabyte's support page, if that doesn't work go to AMD's driver page and update it from there.

    Thanks for your reply!

I assume, I must update the chipset drivers of my mobo, and not so much the AMD graphics card.

I downloaded from https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard...-10#support-dl the "AMD Chipset Driver (include chipset\sata raid driver)" version 8.641 for windows7 (64bit). There is no driver available for a higher windows version.
    File name: "motherboard_driver_chipset_amd_7series-v2.0_win7-64_novga"

I also downloaded from Download Drivers the "AMD Chipset, AHCI, USB 3.0 and RAID Drivers" for windows 10/7 (64bit) at the bottom of the page.
    File name "amd-chipset-drivers.exe"

I installed the "amd-chipset-drivers", which apparently included also graphics card drivers.
Anyhow, I hope the storage driver was renewed now. (How can I check this?)

I'll keep an eye my PC for the coming day(s) and if it still has BSOD, I will try the Gigabyte drivers.

I changed my language to English, and rerun the log collector. See attached zip. I hope this is correct now.

By the way: The installation of the amd-chipset-drivers from the AMD site did not help. I still got a BSOD after that.
I also added a list of all amdxata.sys files in my windows folder. Hope this information helps.

    Looking forward to any advice!

Frequent and random appearing BSOD 'internal power error'.

On the logs that are collected by the DM log collector you are able to view them before posting them.
Please view the event log and msinfo32.
The logs remain in a foreign language and cannot be scanned or read.
See if you can use the information in this link to make the default language English so that the log files can be troubleshooted:

    My apologies.
I changed my language according to the link you provided, but apparently uploaded the old file from saturday.
This is the new file from today (sunday). The txt & nfo files are in English. (I can't read the dump files.)
    Thanks for your patience!

And hereby the result of step 5 and 6 for Model Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB.
(in windows10, this is my boot C-drive)

I did this in "full" command prompt mode [started win10 in command prompt mode], because when I tried it in a command prompt window within win10, I got the error that it could not get exclusive rights to this drive. I hope this is OK.

In "full" command prompt mode, the Model Samsung SSD 850 EVO apparently got drive letter E.

Open disk management > expand each volume and health columns so the contents in the rows is in full view > post an image into the thread.
The chkdsk reports above display d drive followed by e drive followed by another e drive.
How did e drive become c drive?
Download and install minitool partition wizard (free non-trial edition) and post an image into the thread:
