Windows 10: Flash drive has 10 gb of data but when I open the file it says file empty

I’m trying to access a flash drive that has 10 gb of photos from my childhood. The last time I accessed it was 2021 with no issues. When I plugged it in to my laptop it showed the drive that says “4.59 gb free of 14.6 gb” but when I click to open the file it says this file is empty. in the file system it’s formatted in NTFS. I also went to control panel>file explorer options>view tabTick the box "show hidden files folder,& drives" Apply-OKClose and reopen file explorer and still can’t see the files. Not sure what else to do and really sad at the thought of losing years of childhood p

windows by default does not have HFS and HFS+ based hard drives.
Able to perform retrieval on both HFS and HFS+ based hard drives. and so will not work with windows

Before assisting further, I would like to ask you few questions regarding the query:

  Do you get any error message, when you try to open the files in flash drive?
  
• 
  Can you access other USB devices connected to the computer?
  

I suggest you to check, whether USB flash drive is shown in the file explorer and try to open the files from there.

This issue could occur due to outdated, corrupted or incorrect settings of Universal Serial Bus controllers on Windows 10.

If you are unable to find the drive in File Explorer, please refer to the suggestions of ThofikhAhamad, replied on September 5, 2015, to fix your issue with flash drive.
