Windows 10: Fingerprint Sensor Malfunction After Recent Windows Update

After the latest windows update the fingerprint sensor isn't usable anymore, when I went in settings to see if there were any problems it said that it was impossibile to find a fingerprint scanner compatible with Windows Hello. How can I fix it? My PC is a IdeaPad Slim 3 from Lenovo.

Fingerprint sensor disabled by Windows 10 update 1803

I recently installed update 1803 on my HP Windows 10 laptop. The fingerprint sensor stopped working. I don't know if was turned off or disabled or what.

Is there a way I can fix it? I found a thread about it here, but I'm not sure what they they are suggesting.

 

Fingerprint sensor stopped working

I recently purchased an Acer Spin 3 SP313-51N, and the fingerprint sensor has stopped working. While I was trying to login using the sensor, there was a message that said "there was a problem on our end," so I tried to troubleshoot the problem by restarting. Only now the fingerprint sensor has entirely disappeared from the operating system and is no longer listed in device manager. I have tried installing the driver from Acer's website but the fingerprint sensor still doesn't appear anywhere, and Windows Hello is disabled, with the message "We couldn't find a fingerprint scanner compatible with Windows Hello Fingerprint"

Today, I got a driver update for my BENSS fingerprint sensor (Amazon Link) via Windows updates.

It updated from:

to

• ELAN WBF Fingerprint Sensor version 3.10.12001.10501 [07/01/2022].
  

The new driver exits with the code 31.
