    File System Error -1073741189


    This error keeps appearing on my computer, I have not made any recent updates to software and I can’t update drivers because this error shows up. I can’t click on pop ups, restart my computer, nor update anything without getting this error. The only thing I did to the PC recently was replace the PCI cables that go to the GPU. Could that be the issue or am I missing something? I’ve tried running diagnostics in maintenance. And scanning using command prompt. I can’t restore my PC from an resent update because I haven’t made any.

    I have the same issue. When I try to use the local administrator account at my computer Windows throws the same error, file system error (-1073741189), when I paste the administrator’s password in the UAC dialog. When I type the password all
    is well but it’s long and complicated so I would prefer to be able to just copy - paste.

    A corrupted operating system is one of the possible causes why you're getting the error message:
    File System Error (-1073741189) upon pasting the password. To isolate your concern, kindly answer the following:

    • Have you tried to disable the UAC control to see if the issue persists?
    • What's the current build of your computer? Is it 16299.19?
    • Have you made hardware changes recently?

    File System Error -1073741189

    Pasting Admin Password results in File System Error (-1073741189)

    I used to be able to paste my admin password when installing new software or opening admin powershell from my password manager. I believe this stopped when I installed the creators update. When I do this now it results in a "File System Error (-1073741189)"
    immediately when I paste. Is this intended behaviour or am I doing something wrong?
