    File permissions conflict in Windows Subsystem for Linux


    I'm working on a project that runs only under Linux. My physical computer runs Windows and all of the tools I'm accustomed to use are Windows tools, so I've set up a Windows Subsystem for Linux WSL environment with Ubuntu 20.04 to run the project in. I edit files in Windows, using a Windows text editor, then run it in WSL.This works, except for one thing. Ubuntu considers my Ubuntu user account to be distinct from my Windows user account, so it doesn't have permission to use files I create in Windows. Every time I edit a file in Windows its Linux permissions are cleared, and I must set them
