File Explorer does not see drive seen in Manage Storage Spaces Storage Pool

After adding a second drive to the “Storage Pool” and “Optimizing drive usage” the added space of the second drive is not seen by “File Explorer”.History I was running out of “Windows 10 Backup” space on the “I” drive so I purchased an identical 8TB USB diskCreated a storage pool on the new drive called “J”.Copied the original “Widows 10 Backup” contents to the “storage pool”Added the original drive to the storage pool. “Manage Storage Spaces” shows both drives and 14.5TB available.“Optimized drive usage” and the “Manage Storage Spaces” pages shows files evenly distributed at 46%. How to remove a bad drive in Windows 10 storage spaces pool

Could someone list the steps involved in replacing a bad drive from a Windows 10 storage spaces pool? I cannot find any info on the Microsoft support site that is specific to Windows 10. Also, could you list the steps to remove a 'good' drive and replace
it with another drive if the process is different?

Storage Spaces Pool - How to find enumerated drive number?

    Hi All,

When creating a Storage Spaces Pool, the member drives are no longer listed in Disk Management.

My system has been hanging every so often and when I checked the Windows logs, I see a lot of critical error messages about Harddisk/DR10 having a bad block. Since Disk Management no longer lists the individual pool drives, how do I find out which DR10 is one of the pool member drives?

I've tried mini partition tool to see if it can see the drives, it doesn't. It can only see what Disk Management sees and that's only non-storage spaces pooled drives.

    Many thanks!
    Chuck

Thank you very much for your reply.

You don't show a screenshot, so I am uncertain to which part of the process of creating a storage space you are referring. I pointed you to the tutorials. I now provide you with a screenshot of part of one of them, which shows a warning which might be what you are referring to.

Your question about double storage / redundancy appears to relate to the normal operation of storage spaces once configured, so seems obscure.

My impression is that few here have used storage spaces.
