Windows 10: File Explorer crashing on launch

After updating to Windows 11 I have had a recurring issue over the past few months with File Explorer crashing when launching it.This only happens when I am not connected to my office network, so I believe it may have something to do with the network drives I have mapped for when I am in the office.It can often take up to 15 minutes to start responding if I leave it alone.Any advice on preventing this would be great as it wastes a lot of time when I am trying to work out of office.System Specs:ASUS TUF Dash F15Intel Core i7-11370HNVIDIA RTX3060 Laptop24GB DDR4512GB Samsung NVMe SSD1TB Western

Effective Way to Solve the File Explorer Crashes Issue

You can try the following steps:

1. Tap down the Windows button first to activate the search bar.
2. After that, in the search bar type control, and then click on the top-most search result, that is on Control Panel.
3. Next, in the search bar type file.
4. Now, from the search results click on File Explorer Options.
5. Then, click on the Clean button.
6. Lastly, click on Apply and then on OK.

File explorer keeps crashing in Win 10

I did the steps you wrote. All the settings were as you suggested. The File Explorer keeps crashing.

thats wierd... iv never had a large file crash explorer before....


and i have files ranging upto 80GB...
