Family Safety Content filters slow down browsing in Edge

Having 2 kids accounts on 4 different win 11 up to date laptops trying to surf the internet in Edge browser. When Content filtering in ON Filter inappropriate websites is ON + there are allowed and blocked websites in the list in family safety app, the surfing experience is painfull. Every time they start searching in Bing, opening any link from Bing, opening any link from favorites or enetring domain name directly - it takes 10 to 20 seconds for the browser to start rendering the page. You can see similar behaviour when you have very slow DNS, but in this case i believe the reason is in slow

  2. Family Safety web content filters can be bypassed

Family Safety web content filters seem to care only about the web page URL. If the page is allowed, but it gets content from supposedly blocked web sites, there is actually no filtering. Steps to reproduce:

    1. Add youtube.com and googlevideo.com to Blocked sites
    2. Navigate to https://www.bing.com/videos
    3. Watch YouTube videos there

    Family safety content filtering

    Hello, this is Emily.

The content filter only applies to Edge browser. However, you can block the usage of other apps on the child account, that way the child member cannot use the other browser to bypass the filter.

Worth noting - if your child also use Chrome, you can set up family safety via google account/family feature to filter out content on Chrome.
