External monitors are not displaying when connected to a docking station. Confirmed working when connected directly to laptop. Tested machine on a different docking station same issue. Tested machine on known working docking station no change. Updated all drivers for machine, no change.

External display with laptop and docking station

I have a Lenovo T440p laptop and docking station with a Dell external monitor. When I am using my laptop in the docking station I use both screens and select "extend this display" in the display settings to activate the external monitor. Heres my problem.
When I remove my laptop from the docking station it reverts to using one or the other displays when returned to the docking station, meaning it may be my laptop or it may be my external monitor. Windows seems to decide on its own which one I get to use so
I have to go into display settings nearly every time and select extend these displays to use both monitors. Its becoming time consuming and annoying. Why wont it remember that I am using 2 displays. I am running windows 10. I have asked our IT guys to fix
it but after weeks of asking and not getting any results from what they try a have given up hope. I had a different laptop, same brand and model that didnt display this behavior when returned to the docking station.

 

External display is not working on Surface3 if connected via docking station

Surface 3 no longer detects external monitor when I connect it via docking station. Windows does not show any errors, the display just does not appear in the Display settings.

The problem appeared after Anniversary update (build 1607) followed by Surface 3 firmware update. In other words, it's a regression bug caused by recent Windows updates.

If I connect this external display via the same cable directly to Surface 3 (without docking station), then it woks fine. So I suppose that the driver for the docking station causes the problem.

I've tried deep reboot of Surface 3 (hold the power button for 30 seconds), poweroff the docking station and the monitor. Nothing helps.

Setup hardware description: Microsort Surface 3, Docking station for Surface 3, DELL 2713HM (with the default and the only firmware available), mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable (E301195, 1.8 meters).

Software: Windows 10 build 1607 with the latest updates available.

 

Dual Monitors with Docking Station

Hello-

I have a Dell laptop that i use open with 2 external monitors. 1 monitor is plugged in via HDMI directly to the laptop, the other monitor is plugged in via HDMI to my external docking station. All 3 montiors worked fine until yesterday when my IT dept got into my computer to fix an unrelated issue. Since then my docking station monitor will no longer work, but all other docking station components are working fine.

When i go into Display, all 3 monitors are detected, but the docking station monitor appears as a small screen on the Display board, yet the actual monitor itself is black. When I try to get it to connect it is No HDMI signal for device.

how do I get this docking station monitor to work again? It worked fine for months before this. I did plug this monitor into my personal laptop and it works fine so the monitor or cable is not the issue.
