Windows 10: External monitor connected through usb-c keeps disconnecting

Hi, I have a notebook HP pavilion power 15-cb012nc with 2 external monitors connected. One through HDMI works fine and the second through USB C port USB C to HDMI.

The second monitor keeps getting disconnected. When I launch a game, it disconnected within a few minutes. Today it disconnected randomly while watching Youtube and running a virus scan on pc.

When this happens. the USB C port seems to be completely shut off I tried connecting other devices, none of them working. I get no information about disconnecting the monitor No windows disconnect sound, the monitor just loses signal and Windows keeps acting like it's still connected I can move the mouse there for example.
After I reboot the PC, the USB C port starts working again.

I believe this is a Windows issue because I didn't experience it while running Ubuntu.


I have disabled "USB selective suspend setting" in power options and also disabled "Allow the computed to turn off this device to save power" for all USB hub devices in Device Manager in Power Management tab of the settings. I also have all windows updates installed.



Graphics card: Nvidia GTX 1050.
Integrated graphics card: Intel HD Graphics 630

Processor: Intel i7-7700HQ

16 GB RAM

Issues while using an external monitor and charging using USB type C port

take a look at my comments.

1. Which build version of Windows 10 are you using currently? > V 1903 (Build 18362.449)
   
2. Are you aware of any changes made to the PC prior to which you weren’t facing this issue? > NO, it's a clean Windows System
   
3. Are you using a docking station? > NO!
   
4. Have you tried connecting the external monitor using HDMI connection? > The monitor works with USB-C and HDMI. However, it only works with USB-C if I use the USB-C power supply at the same time. If I only use the USB-C monitor (with battery operation)
   and the battery is full (charged by the USB-C monitor), then the monitor no longer works.

Primary monitor blacks out after disconnecting from external

• Are you aware of any changes that happened on the computer prior to this issue?
  

This issue could be due to the display setting corruption that only affected the primary display when disconnected from the secondary.



I suggest you to try the steps listed below and check if it works for you:

• Press ‘Win + R’ keys on the keyboard together to open the Run dialog box and type the following into the Run box:
  appwiz.cpl
  
• Uninstall Intel HD Graphics Drivers and exit
  Programs and Features.
  
• Right click the Windows icon on the taskbar and choose
  Device Manager.
  
• Expand Display Adapters and right click on
  Intel HD Graphics Display Driver.
  
• Click on Uninstall and check the box
  Delete the driver software for this device.
  
• With the external monitor connected, reboot the machine.
  
• Once the machine boots into the desktop, disconnect the external monitor and check if the issue persists.

Issues while using an external monitor and charging using USB type C port

Hello everybody,

I use my X1 Yoga with Windows 10. charging via the USB-C port using an external monitor only works if the battery is not 100% charged. As soon as the battery is 100% charged, the display switches off and the laptop tries to connect to the monitor again
and again. Then I only have to disconnect the monitor and wait until I have <80% battery again to connect the external monitor. I have tried several monitor manufacturers and always the same result. If I connect an external charger and a monitor, I don't have
the problem. Can anyone give me a tip? I'm desperate. And yes, all drivers are ALWAYS up to date.
