Windows 10: External HDD #1 failing enumeration after connecting external HDD #2

I'm on Windows 10. I had a LaCie 5TB drive assigned as the E: drive. I then connected an old Seagate 8TB drive. It assigned itself to E: and the LaCie drive disappeared.I am fairly confident that the drive did not coincidentally fail right around the time I dug out an old hard drive and connected it. So I am hoping there is just some discrepancy with how the device connects to the computer, and that all my data is still safe.I have tried:Restarting computer, disconnecting and reconnecting after trying other methodsAssigned new letter to Seagate drive and then reconnecting LaCie. External HDD/USB.

Hello.

I have an external HDD docking station connected to my PC thru USB.

Devine manager sees it. But Windows explorer does not.

Suggestions?

 

External HDD not recognized

Your Toshiba must be "KaPut" as Toshiba HDD are notorious for failure! I had an external 2015
Model: HDTB110AK3BA Canvio Basics 3.0 Plus 1TB and it gave up after only 3 months of usage. There is not much you can do except do the following:

1) Don't open it

2) Don't do anything that they suggest online to fix HDD's as it will break yours!

3) Take it to a renowned HDD specialist that will properly retrieve your data (if it can be done so?) and you will get all you data back.

Note: To take a HDD to have its data properly retrieved will cost you probably more than the HDD is worth but, if your data is worth it, then do it.

 

No access to external HDD

Just over a week ago I posted the below problem of inability to access my external HDD. I had one response from someone who asked me to send a mailshot of my Disk Management. This failed on my first attempt but was successful on the second. Despite
sending him/her a reminder I have heard nothing further. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE SEND A POSSIBLE SOLUTION AS I CANNOT DO ANY BACKUPS!

I have Windows 10 Pro Version 1903 and use Macrium Reflect for my scheduled backups

to an external HDD housed in a caddy. Recently the backups have failed four times

due to an error "the semaphore timeout period has expired". Despite trying various

suggestions to fix from Google - no luck! Now I have no access to my external HDD

as the drive cannot be seen in ‎File Explorer. Your help for a fix will be greatly

appreciated.
