Windows 10: External Drive taking forever to load. Help!

Hello everyone, Hope you are well!My PC is not loading my external hard disk properly, it keeps getting stuck on loading the drive and everything related to the drive just keeps getting stuck. I can't open it, I can't disconnect from it, I can't check the properties in devices, everything is just hung.It didnt even run on other pcs.

step 1: try with a different USB cable

step 2: take the drive out of the enclosure and connect it internally to your PC

quite likely the cable or enclosure has died. if you're re-initialising the disk you might actually be erasing it... so dont do that.

Thanks for helping out.

I followed the steps that were mentioned and I did come across an error which had a fix and required the restart of my PC (this I had done without plugging in my external drive).

But when I plugged in the external drive after that, it still had the same issue, so I ran the troubleshooter now only with the external HDD plugged in via my USB port. And everything just got hung like I had mentioned before and this time the troubleshooter
too. I have attached some screenshots for your reference in the trail.

I would also like to know DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error and if this could be a result of that Blue screen of Death error?

Help with external hard drive

I appreciate your interest in windows 10 and also for trying the troubleshooting steps to fix the issue. I understand the inconvenience you faced. I will certainly help you with this.

I would suggest you to plug in hard drive then check in disk management you can see the drive or not.

Follow the steps to check Drive in Disk Management.

• 
  Go to the Control Panel then click on the
  Administrative Tools. .
  
• 
  Under the Administrative Tool Click on Computer Management.
  
• 
  Click on Disk Management and check the External Hard Drive.
  

Also check in BIOS whether External Hard Drive is listed or not.

For help with the BIOS settings, refer to the computer manual or contact the manufacturer.

If it doesn’t work then, I would suggest you to update BIOS for updating BIOS contact Lenovo Support.
