I've been working on my laptop, and suddenly, it stopped working and displayed an error message. Then, it restarted, and I used my password to log in. After logging in, the whole interface was different. Everything had changed, including my wallpaper. I can't open any apps, not even system apps. I can't open the task manager or the notification bar. Whenever I try to open any apps, it shows "explorer.exe: the group or resource is not in the correct state to perform the requested operation." I tried using Command Prompt with `sfc /scannow` and `DISM.exe`, but it's not working. I even tried to r

We can try the fixes for the error in Windows or Safe Mode, and if they don't run or work, switch to the Repair Mode or bootable media to roll back the problem update and block it.

If any steps cannot be performed normally then try them in 1) Safe Mode with Networking (so you have internet) or 2) Safe Mode, accessed by one of the illustrated steps in this guide: https://www.digitalcitizen.life/4-ways-boot-saf....

You will need to use your password to get into Safe Mode as a PIN is not accepted.

That is usually (but not always) a transient error. Sometimes you may also see an accompanying errorcode (0x8007139f).



If you reboot the computer that should fix it though some users report a manual update of Windows Defender may also be needed
