  2. Date and time does not run automatically apart from your guided setting

    Hi Gopal,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community and being part of Windows 10.

I understand your concern about accessing date & time on your device. We will help you with this issue.

Do let us know if you have turned on Set time automatically and Set time zone automatically?

Try the below and check if it helps.

Method 1: I suggest you to turn on automatic time setup if not yet done.

    • Type date and time in Search bar on
      Taskbar
, click on Change the date and time.
    • Turn on Set time automatically and Set time zone automatically.

Method 2: I suggest you to check with the status of Windows Time service.

Windows Time Service maintains date and time synchronization on all clients and servers in the network. If this service is stopped date and time synchronization will be unavailable. If this service is disabled,
any services that explicitly depends on it will fail to start.

    Step 1: Stop the service:

    • Press Windows Key + R on the keyboard and type
      services.msc, Services window gets opened.
    • Search for Windows Time service and stop.
    • To do so, right click on each service select Stop
    • Restart the device.

Step 2: Start the service and set it to automatic:

    • Press Windows Key + R on the keyboard and type
      services.msc
      , Services window gets opened.
    • Search for Windows Time service, right click on it and click on
      Properties.
    • Start the service, set
      Startup type to Automatic.

Hope it helps. Kindly update the status of the issue, we will be happy to help you.

  3. My laptop isn't automatically changing to account for the time change

    Hi, Masato S

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

I can provide you with some general steps to troubleshoot the time synchronization issue on your laptop. Before attempting to make changes in the BIOS, you can try the following steps:

    1. Check Time Zone Settings: Go to your computer's settings and ensure that the correct time zone (Pacific Time) is selected.
    2. Restart Time Service:
      • Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
      • Type the following commands one by one:

      • Restart your computer and check if the time is now synchronized correctly.
    3. Update Date and Time: Manually set the correct date and time on your computer, and then enable automatic time synchronization to see if it stays accurate.
If the issue persists after trying the above steps, you can consider checking the BIOS settings for the system clock. Here's how you can access the BIOS:

    • Restart your laptop.
    • During the startup process, look for a message that indicates which key to press to enter the BIOS setup. This key may vary depending on your laptop manufacturer.(common keys are Del, F2, F10, or Esc).
    • Press the specified key to enter the BIOS setup utility.
    • Once in the BIOS, look for options related to date and time settings.
    • Adjust the time settings if necessary and save the changes before exiting the BIOS setup.

After making changes in the BIOS, restart your laptop and check if the time is now displaying correctly. If the issue still persists, there may be an underlying hardware problem that requires contact your laptop manufacturer for further assistance.

If there is anything not clear, or I can't understand your issue, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Best Regards

  4. Every time I open the laptop, it runs for some time and then automatically shuts down again...

trying to change time on toshiba laptop

    Hey TerryRice2!

    • Open Settings.
    • Click Time and Language.
    • If you want to set your laptop time automatically, switch "Set Time Automatically" and "Set Time Zone Automatically" to on, and click the "sync now" button. A few restarts later, and maybe a little wait, and your laptop will sync to the appropriate time
      for your location.
      • Sometimes the minute is right, but not the hour. In this case, just flip the "Set Time Zone Automatically" to off, and choose the time zone in the dropdown near the bottom of the page.
      • If you need to set it completely manually, switch "Set Time Automatically" and "Set Time Zone Automatically" to off, and click Change. Then change it in the dialog box.
