Windows 10: Event ID 372 - Error code 2147500037 preventing printing to HP Envy 5644

My Windows desktop will not print to my Wirelessly connected HP Envy 5644. The problem started when the Win10 1709 update was installed last year. I had hoped that subsequent updates would cure the problem but they have not.


What happens is that when I send to the printer, the job appears in the printer queue, but is removed after a few seconds with no printing. There is no warning from the HP drivers that there was a problem but a Windows event is generated with the folowing details:


Printservice error 372 - The document Print Document, owned by Malcolm, failed to print on printer HP ENVY 5640 series (Network). Try to print the document again, or restart the print spooler.

I have tried numerous driver re-installs with all the variations I can find sugested in multiple forums and nothing helps. I have stopped and restarted the print spooler service and various other things I have seen suggested but again nothing works.

The same driver on my laptop works fine and I cannot see any significant variations in the properties between laptop and desktop.

Additionally I have the driver installed on WinXP running in Oracle Virtualbox on my desktop and that sends prints with no problem.

There is no problem in the comms between desktop and printer as I can scan with no problem and perform maintenance.


The only thing that does not work is printing.

Has anyone got any suggestions of what else I might try please?

No printing after Fall Creators Update version 1709

Since my PC was upgraded to version 1709 of Windows 10 (64 bit) I have been unable to print to my HP Envy 5644 printer. On the advice of suggestions from the HP forums I have performed mutliple un-installs and re-installs of the driver / printer software
without any solution. I have seen a number of other posts to forums such as these with the same or similar problems but no proper solutions.

The symptoms are that my print appears in the print queue for a few seconds, but then disappears with no printing and no error messages suggesting what the problem is. After some digging I have determined that every printing does generate an error event
- In the event viewer in path "Applications and Services logs - Microsoft - Windows - Printservice - Admin" an error with
event ID 372 is generated each time printing is attempted with the message:

I have been unable to find any useful information on the Win32 error code 214500037.

Any help gratefully received.

 

Unable to print after creating a Homegroup. Error code 2147500037

After creating a home group I tried to print the password and instructions as suggested but it would not print. I got the error code 2147500037. Can anyone help please?

Printer fails with Event ID 372 on Win 10

I had previously used the troubleshooter which didn't change the behavior. I did retry the steps that you had outlined.

It is interesting that I was able to temporarily add a different printer and it did work properly so it seems to be isolated to this printer and driver.

When running a print test page after following the steps that you had outlined, I did see that there were 2 files that were created in C:\Windows\system32\spool\printers when I attempted to print a test page. FP00001.SHD and FP00001.SPL. They were deleted
when I canceled the print job.

The error event (ID 372) with the same message as above was generated by my attempt to print to this printer.

Let me know if you have any additional tests that may help to resolve this issue.
