    ESENT events - Computer Freezes


    Hello All,I have seen these issues posted several times, but there still does not seem to be any fix. Seeing the event below in Event Viewer:taskhostw 9172,D,0 WebCacheLocal: A request to write to the file "C:\Users\****\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WebCache\WebCacheV01.jfm" at offset 8192 0x0000000000002000 for 8192 0x00002000 bytes succeeded, but took an abnormally long time 23 seconds to be serviced by the OS.     ESENT error causes computer to freeze

    After i installed the Fall Creators Update, my computer keeps randomly freezing. I looked in the Event Viewer, and i see this

    "DllHost (5888,G,98) The beta feature EseDiskFlushConsistency is enabled in ESENT due to the beta site mode settings 0x800000."

    How do i disable or remove ESENT/EseDiskFlushConsistency? it causes my computer to freeze up CONSTANTLY when im playing games, and for most competitive games that i play, each second is crucial... i lost a few games
    worth money because of this.

    Again, never had this issue till i installed the Fall Creators Update

    ESENT Event ID 508,510 and 533 warnings in Event Viewer

    I had this problem for a while but it got worse a few days ago, after a popup opened in Edge that spoke and said my computer was infested, blah blah the usual. From that moment the ESENT events increased to about every five minutes for up to 45 seconds.
    I suspected a rootkit or trojan, and while windows defender found nothing, Hitman Pro found a trojan right away, removed it, and the esent events ceased. The trojan was Powelik, designed to simulate website clicks and do background downloading, hence the esent
    error related to webcache. Just went two hours without an esent event or a freeze, so its a relief. Clearly a lapse in security for microsoft. You can get a free powelik remover from symantec. Just takes a few minutes, or use Hitman for the 30 day free trial.
