Windows 10: Error while updating...Antivirus status to SECURITY_PRODUCT_STATE_ON

[running Windows 10 Creators + ESET NOD32 - everything up-to-date]

Hi,

I'm constantly getting this message in the Event Viewer although the Security Center tells me that ESET NOD32 is up and running.

I'm also getting this message at the beginning of each Windows session :

The Windows Security Center Service was unable to establish event queries with WMI to monitor third party AntiVirus, AntiSpyware and Firewall.

I have already applies most of the advice I could read, like resetting the WMI repository and similar fixes. This didn't help. Still wondering about what can cause this error.

Any advice is welcome.Thanks in advance.

Windows Security Centre errors in Event Viewer

Hi,

I don't have any 3rd party anti virus software install, but all of a sudden, I receive this error:

"error while updating status to security_product_state_on"

Multiple times during the day.

Any idea why this is happening, and if there is a fix?

 

Inconsistent warnings from Security Center about allegedly disabled antivirus software

[running Windows 10 Creators + ESET NOD32 antivirus]

If I enable the antivirus warnings in the Security Center, I constantly get notifications telling me that "Windows Defender and ESET NOD32 are both turned off". Of course, Windows Defender is disabled since I have installed ESET NOD32. When I get this notification,
I look at the Security Center and I can see that ESET NOD32 is recognized as active. So what gives ?

I see that this problem is not new and can appear with other third-party antivirus software. I know how to disable these notifications but I'm curious about the reasons of this inconsistency.

I also have, as many others, the "Error while updating ESET NOD32 Antivirus status to SECURITY_PRODUCT_STATE_ON" problem. I have posted about this in another thread because I'm not sure that these problems are related. Maybe they are : I'm usually receiving
the notifications a few minutes after the SECURITY_PRODUCT_STATE_ON event has been sent to the Event log.

Reports about this issue started to appear with Windows 8. I guess it's now time to fix it ?

I am running ESET NOD32 on 3 different x64 Creators Update systems, and luckily have not seen this problem.
I might suggest a few things:

-Download and run ADWCleaner just to be sure nothing is lurking on the system.
Downloads - AdwCleaner - ToolsLib

-Try to manually stop and restart the WMI.

-Uninstall ESET (Windows Defender will take over)
Uninstall and reinstall your ESET home productESET Knowledgebase

Note: Be sure you have your ESET key handy before doing this.

-Perform a Windows defender offline boot scan.

-Perform chkdsk on your OS drive.

-Perform a system file check scan. In an admin command prompt or admin Powershell:
Code: sfc /scannow[/quote]
-Reinstall ESET NOD32.

Other than that, I'm not sure what else could be done. Maybe some others here will have more ideas for you. Good luck.

Thanks for your recommendations but actually, I have already applied them, plus many others. The only fix that I didn't (and will not) try is re-installing the OS from scratch. Too much work for fixing this issue.

Since the Security Center is recognizing the antivirus, I'm wondering whether these messages in the Event Viewer are actually reflecting a real problem. Almost everything on my system is working as expected, so I'm starting to suspect that these events posted to the EV are just bugs.

 

Problem solved by setting the Security Center service logon to System. Don't know why this had been changed.
