Windows 10: Error 0x0000011b when adding a shared network printer

I have a wired printer connected to a desktop running Windows 10. I am trying to connect another Windows 10 laptop to this printer through the desktop's shared network. I can see the printer showing up in the network on the laptop, but I keep getting Error 0x0000011b when I try to add it. This laptop was previously connected to the printer through the desktop, but we moved and set up a new network and now it's not working. There is a second laptop on the network that is successfully connected. Just this laptop is causing problems.Here's what I tried: Running all the Windows updates on both com

In all seriousness, I have had more issues with Lexmark printers and their shitty drivers then any other manufacturer, HP is a close second though.

However, if you don't want to get a new printer*Laugh :laugh:, and I can understand that, when my Lexmark was giving me the same troubles in Win7(and Vista) I had to make sure the Windows firewall was ON and the firewall service was enabled and running. After I shared it I could re-disable the firewall and firewall services.

 

Printer Error 0x0000011b

I am Sumit here to assist you with this question.

You just got affected by an old bug This was a big problem for network shared printers way back in September. Please do the following which hopefully should resolve the problem.

You need to add the Registry key on both the Client and server.

Press Windows+R keys on the keyboard, or Right-click Start on the taskbar and choose Run.

Type regedit

Press Enter.

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print key, create a new DWORD-32 bit value named RpcAuthnLevelPrivacyEnabled, and set it to 0, and restart your computer.

It, however, does not prevent your device from a security vulnerability discovered recently.
