Windows 10: Ergonomic wired keyboard 4000: Suddenly one key doesn't work. Could it be software related?

I've taken it apart and made sure the contacts are meticulously clean. I've screwed down the circuit board well 4 screws in all. The plug going to the circuit board is inserted correctly. Every key is flawless except the one that we use for the right hand that initiates a right click, between Alt and Control. On the left side this would be the "Windows" key. Not sure what its called on the right side. And the key itself moves fine and looks just like the others. Its always worked fine til a few days ago. I wouldn't even care but I happen to use it a lot. Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 with Windows 11

My Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 works on Windows 11 - somewhat. All the standard keyboard operations work properly, and two of the the special function keys work, however, the MS Mouse and Keyboard Center software says "no supported device". Any suggestions??

 

Fn key not working on Microsoft Ergonimic 4000 keyboard

Hi, I just got the keyborad Microsoft Ergonomic 4000 at work.

After installing the last microsoft keyboard and mouse software, and play a little bit with it i got this problem:

- all work correctly but the FN key doesn´t. When I use it to get the F1-F12 functions, it simply open a windows, the same if i press I would press the right button of the mouse. this is quite frustrating as need to use F-keys quite often for jobs.

Have you ever heard of this problems? there is a way to reset the keyboard to original setting? maybe when downloaded the software something happened.

I suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter by following the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Type troubleshooting in the search box and press Enter.
• Click on View All in the left navigation pane.
• Click on Hardware and Devices and follow the on-screen prompts for troubleshooting.

If the issue still persists, then download the drivers for the keyboard from the link provided below and install the same and check.
