    End of support for Windows 8.1 has rendered my laptop useless


    I have had the same laptop now for nine years, and the fact I cannot upgrade it to Windows 10 means it is now as good as useless. I need this laptop to take between where I teach and my home, and without it a substantial chunk of my productivity is gone. Yet now, with support for Windows 8.1 ending, I daren't use it for fear of it ending up infected or hacked, even thought I always have had antivirus software on it. Also, neither the organisation I work for nor I can afford to replace it, so I'm wondering what exactly I'm supposed to do. I have been a Windows user and Microsoft customer since

    DTS supported natively by Windows 8/8.1 and it should work on windows 10 too just DDL require to unlock your driver .

    Wait, but have you done the whole step-by-step guide described in the OP? DDL/DTS isn't supported natively by Windows 8/8.1 either, unless if you do the steps listed there.
