Enabling and Updating GPU drivers cause freeze/bsod

Everytime I enable my GPU 940mx my laptop freezes. And everytime I update it it turns BSOD with DPC WATCHDOG. I was using it while playing then suddenly my game froze and the laptop turned off, conducted a restart and displayed srttrail BSOD. Until I decided to disable gpu, everything seems to work fine. Is it possible that my GPU is broken? everytime i try to update it, it fails. What should I do? I've tried: CHKDSKSFC SCANNOWUpdate driversUpgrade to windows 11Also, I'm missing the IDE ATA/ATAPI controller on my device management. I'm pretty certain it was there years ago. I found out that

  2. BSOD Windows 10 - Driver Verifier causing windows to boot loop and carnt get BSOD to find driver at fault. need help!

    Right, I have done a lot of testing over the weekend and these are the results;

    1. disabled gpu = BSOD
    2. removed gpu drivers and gpu from system = BSOD
    3. removed battery and cleared CMOS
    4. tried a old AMD gpu and driver = BSOD
    5. moved ram from stots A2 & B2 to A1 & B1 = BSOD
    6. ram a single ram stick in A2 = BSOD
    7. ram the other ram stick in A2 = BSOD
    8. disconnected corsair lighting node pro = BSOD
    9. sfc /scannow = no issues
    10. updated all windows 10 + drivers to the latest versions = BSOD
    11. enabled driver verifier = BSOD (creative video capture driver shown as issue
    12. uninstalled creative software and drivers = BSOD
so where do I go from here? (other that throwing my 2k computer that's less than a year old out my window)

    some of todays dump data

    BSOD or Total freeze, UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP

If a clean install fixes the problem depends on if the problem is not on hardware level, a system freeze has pretty much the same causes as a BSOD
    • Drivers,
    • BIOS,
    • System service,
    • Memory,
    • GPU,
    • Software,
    • Power,
    • Cabling,
    • CPU,
    • Motherboard,
    • Incompatibility,
    • etc.
The difficulty is that a freeze often doesn't leave trails behind, because the system can't create any.

GPU no signal output, installing driver (on integrated card) causes system freeze

I recently decided to build a budget PC, I bought the following parts:

I've plugged the PSU->GPU power and both green led over the plugs are green, so I suppose the power is ok. I also tried moving the GPU between the 2 PCIE's. Tried resetting BIOS, different versions of drivers, no effect.

Here is what I got so far:

    • Without GPU plugged in, everything works as expected.
    • With GPU plugged in, but the HDMI connected to the integrated card (and forced through BIOS), the system boot, but when I try to install the driver, everything freezes
      • With GPU plugged in and HDMI in GPU, I get no signal from the monitor (all fans work)
      • Device manager (in windows 10) was detecting the card as "microsoft basic video driver", tried to manually force auto drive update, but didn't find the proper drivers.

What might be causing the problem? Is my GPU faulty?
