  1. Emails from Microsoft Account Team regarding "Microsoft account unusual signin activity"

For some time I have received emails from Microsoft Account Team stating "Microsoft account unusual signin activity". I went to my recent signin activity data and found my own signin activity plus seven other signin attempts all unsuccessful in the last 2 weeks. They were from 7 different cities and IRL's, all not mine. This is very concerning. How can I prevent the attempts? Would these IRL's be of any use to your security group? Thanks for your assistance.

    :)

Microsoft account unusual sign-in activity email.

Hi Billyv1988, I am Paulo and I'd like to help.

You'll know it's legitimate if it's from the Microsoft account team at *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

You can check this article for more details

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-bil...

You may also check the recent sign-in activity for your Microsoft account here

Sign in to your Microsoft account

If there wasn't anything unusual, the email message is a phishing scam

  3. Microsoft account unusual sign-in activity

Thank you for the reply. I have answered your questions in bold.

But I still fail to see why any of the questions/measures apply to my situation when Microsoft's "Review recent activity" log shows no "unusual sign-in activity" whatsoever. There are approximately 20 sessions showing on my activity log currently, and everyone
single one of them shows them to be: my computer, my IP address, my location, my operating system, my browser; all at times of the day when I was on my computer...

So unless Microsoft's "Review recent activity" page is inaccurate, where on earth is the "unusual sign-in activity" and why am I getting daily emails alerting me to something, that according to Microsoft's "recent activity" log, does not exist?

    Thanks for your continued help/efforts,

    SR

03/03/17: Update: and, FTR, I got the email again last night, 8 days in a row now. And once again, there is no "unusual sign-in activity" showing in my "recent activity" whatsoever.

  4. Emails from Microsoft Account Team regarding "Microsoft account unusual signin activity"

    Microsoft account unusual sign-in activity

I have received an email from Microsoft re: "Microsoft account unusual sign-in activity" 4 days in row now. All sent at about 3:00 am Pacific Time.

When I got the first one, I did a little research to confirm the email was not fake, a scam. All seemingly checked out: They were from the Microsoft account team. The email address was *** Email address is removed for privacy ***., which according to this page What happens if there's an unusual sign-in to your account - Microsoft Support
    is legitimate.

In addition, when I click on the link in the emails to "review recent activity", it take's me to Microsoft's Live login page, and that page does have the Microsoft Corp name in green with the lock on it. So, as best as I can tell the emails, which I have
now received 4 early mornings in a row now, are all legitimate.

The problem (the question) is, when I "review my recent activity" as instructed, it's all me. All activity, all log-ins are from me, my computer, my IP address. There is no "unusual activity". So why does Microsoft keep sending me these emails? Until 4 days
ago, I have never received any such emails.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Note: I did research this forum and know there is a good deal written about it. I also Googled the heck out of it. But after 4 days, I really still have no answer as to why I'm getting these emails; when my Microsoft account, my "recent activity" shows nothing
    unusual whatsoever.
