Windows 10: EFS REKEY wizard

When I turn on my laptop, a window pops up in the middle of the screen from the EFS Rekey Wizard, saying that this version of Windows does not support the Encrypting File System. How can I fix it?

I suggest you to start the Encrypting File System (EFS) Service and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

• Press Windows key + R from the Keyboard.
• Type services.msc and hit Enter.
• Search for Encrypting File System (EFS) Service.
• Double click on Encrypting File System (EFS) Service and click on
  Start button.
• Click on the dropdown list and set the Startup type to
  Automatic.

Ok that's good then.

So when you get a moment do what i suggested by deleting the existing EFS cert and let me know how you make out.

 

Windows 11 Upgrade no Access to EFS Files

I used the cert manager to export my cert and keys, but the file still have the lock. I did a clean install of Windows 11. Awful I will never use windows encryption again. - - - Updated - - - I found the solution. I have checked my EFS used certificate and it was using a different one, I just rekeyed it using my backup cert and I was able to access my files. Import the cert only, does not work.
