Windows 10: Driver errors with a file transfer cable

Hello. I want to transfer files from my Android 14 phone to my fully up-to-date Windows 10 computer, and do Android Debug Bridge stuff, but when I connect a file transfer cable with my laptop and the phone, Windows keeps telling that it cannot recognize the USB and it must have malfunctioned. I uninstall the driver using Device Manager, get it reinstalled by rebooting Windows or scanning for Plug And Play hardware from Device Manager, and the driver is still faulty. I tried with another cable, but the driver is still unrecognized. Can someone help me fix this? Perhaps the driver isn't complete

OMG. I have never met anyone who actually bought one of those file transfer things.



Firewire will do the same as USB, but faster, so will a cheap crossover cable. I can wlak you through the steps of moving data so you will not miss a beat.




Anything more than $10 to buy a cable is too much.

 

No file transfer window when transferring files on android phones.


Device: One plus 2, Nexus 5, 7, and others not showing file transfer window when transferring files

OS: Windows 10

Brand: RazerModel: Razer

Blade 2016 (GTX 1060 edition)

Does this occur with other devices on this machine? : Yes

Does this happen on other laptops? : No

Does this occur when using different cables? : Yes

Does this occur on both modes MTP and PTP? : Yes

What happened when the device is unplugged While attempting to transfer a file?:

An error occurs as if the file were transferring in the background unseen but, it isn't.
It's been checked under task manager.
Steps Taken:Deleted any and all drivers dealing with Android through Device Manager -> show hidden devices -> uninstalled drivers.

Used different usb type "c" cables.

Uninstalled and reinstalled one plus drivers,

Uninstalled drivers for mtp and reinstalled

Updated all drivers per laptop website

Ran sfc/scannow tools, no issues found

Ran disk clean up, cleared all and any temp file (ex: cache, cookies, java cache)

This issue has been found to be windows itself and not the device(s).

Please feel free to throw me suggestions after reading through what was done! *Biggrin

 

Cable to transfer files

Hey guys, my situation is that I want to transfer media files etc. from my old computer to my new computer, and I have looked into getting a external harddrive as a medium to transfer from old to new
(since I was going to get one anyways).

Well on reading reviews, it is too damn expensive imo for something that is quite unreliable!

I'm looked around, and Im confused on what cable I need to connect both computers directly
e.g can you do USB - USB, or do I need something else (I think I read about a null serial modem cable)
What damn cable should I purchase?

Both computers are XP so I should be able to use the file transfer wizard but im stuck on the important bit *Stick Out Tongue
