I have a Dell Inspiron 15 5510 and it only has one usb port, so I connected a 4-port usb hub. No problem there, except why only one usb port? Anyway, I'll try to explain my problem as best I can and hope you can understand what help I need.Using a backup program EaseUs ToDo Backup, I wanted to make a backup of my backup, which I was able to do, both a computer image and then a separate file/folder backup. 2. External Hard Drive is not getting recognized properly.

    Hi,

    Thanks for reply.

Connect your external hard drive to a different USB and check if that helps. Also connect the hard dive to a different pc and check are you able to access the files.

Method 1: To check if the hard drive is visible in Disk management.

    1. Press Windows Key + R and type devmgmt.msc

    2. Check if your hard drive is listed.

Method 2: I suggest you to try changing the drive letter of the drive and check if it helps.

Follow the steps to change the drive letter:

    a. Press Windows + X keys and click on
    Disk Management
    .

    b. Right click on the external drive and click on Change Drive letter and paths.

    c. Click on Change the button.

    d. Under Assign the following Drive letter, select the desired drive letter.

    e. Click Ok to save changes.

Hope it helps. If you need further assistance with Windows, let us know and will be glad to help.

    Thanks

  3. External Hard Drive "is not accessible"

    Hi Ridhwan,

Sorry for the delayed response. Let me continue to assist you further.

The issue here could have been due to fact that the Drive I:\ is encrypted or a flush drive. This forces the computer to not recognize the format and displays the error message. I suggest here to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

    • Press Windows Key + letter 'X.'
    • Choose 'Disk Management.'
    • Right click on the External drive and select 'Change Drive letter and Path names.'
    • Rename the drive letter i.e. remove letter I and say you replace it with letter
      J.
    • Restart the computer and check the issue status.

Hope this helps. Please reply for further queries on this.

unrecognised external hard drive on Windows 10

Since you already reinstalled the drivers of the External Hard Drive, let's run the
Hardware and Devices troubleshooter as it can resolve your concern. You can do that by following these steps:

    • Press the Start button.

    • Type and select Troubleshooting.

    • Click on View all on the left panel.

    • Select and run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.

If the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter doesn’t resolve your concern, we suggest that you change the letter of the External Hard Drive. You can do that by following these steps:

    • Press the Start button.

    • Type and select Control panel.

    • Select System and Security.

    • Select Administrative Tools, and a new window will appear.

    • Double-click Computer Management, and a new window will appear.

    • Select Disk Management that is located under
      Storage
      in the left pane.

    • Right click on the External Hard Drive that is not showing on the File Explorer.

    • Select Change letter and network path, and a new window will appear.

    • Select Change, and choose the letter that you want for the External Hard Drive.

After changing the letter of the External Hard Drive, we suggest that you reboot your laptop for the changes to take effect.

Let us know how it goes.
