  1. Does windows 11 IPP class driver support basic auth?

Does anyone know if windows 11 built in IPP class driver supports basic auth at all? I'm trying to add an IPP printer shared from a Linux cups, the printer installs on the system but nothing can be printed - I'm looking at the communication with wireshark and looking in the cups logs - you can see that windows sends Validate-Job, Create-Job requests - cups in response sends a 401 basic auth challenge - I would expect windows to then show a window where I can enter a username/password, but nothing like that happens. The submitted printout sits in the queue, windows keeps trying to send it to cu

  2. IPP Everywhere ( IPP 2.0 ) Server Basic Authentication

We are attempting to develop and IPP Everywhere Printing Server ( IPP 2.0 ) and are having issue with Windows 10 / 11 when attempting to authenticate the clients using Basic Authentication

When we run the system as IPP 1.0 and add using "Select a shared printer by name" and selecting the Microsoft / PostScript Driver everything works as expected.
But we have now updated the server to conform to the IPP 2.0 standard, and we are able to add the printer.. but when we attempt to print and challenge the Client with a 401 Unauthorized (WWW-Authenticate: Basic realm="User Visible Realm" ) the print job is marked as "Error" and the client is never challenged for its credentials.

We add it using the "Add a printer using the ip address or hostname" we see incoming requests using IPP v2 to the printer server, and the printer is added successfully. But when we attempt to print and challenge using Basic Auth the print fails, if we disable Auth everything works

We have made sure to clear everything, changed printer-uuid etc to ensure no credentials are stored..

Is there anything specific that the Windows 10/11 IPP Everywhere Drivers require ?

Our printer uri is https://URL and we are running an valid SSL certificate

Could it be that Windows 10 / 11 dosent support Basic Auth for IPP 2.0+?

Or what else could be wrong

We have also tried with the following project and get the same issue:

GitHub - istopwg/ippsample: IPP sample implementations.

This is linked from this site as an example project for IPP Everywhere

  3. MS-IPP Class Driver missing

Thanks for getting back to me! Unfortunately, I tried the solutions suggested, but none caused the MS-IPP class driver to become installed. If there were any more things I could try that would be great. Thanks again

Does windows 11 IPP class driver support basic auth?

IPP Class Driver Issues - can someone look into this?

Some findings on the IPP Class Driver:

    1. On some print jobs, there is an error popup, and the job sits in error status in the queue. While it can be deleted, it might be a good idea to report the IPP error (or windows error) in the queue status so users can better track what is going on.

    2. IPP authentication is not supported even when credentials are set on the (in this case HP M608) printer. Using CUPS APIs, a request to print without credentials correctly incurs a callback on the user end for credentials. Provided the credentials match, the print goes through as it should. Using the IPP Class driver, there is no dialog box ever provided for credentials (although the printer correctly sends the message for them) for the user to provide and the job just fails and sits in the queue as an error - no reason provided.
