Does copying folders delete older files in old folder with the same name?

I create back-ups manually, with the exception of deleting massive files from the drive/pc that I created a back-up from. Now I find it easy to just ctrl+c/v everything, but what happens with older files in the old folder I replace with the new one?

Does it "delete" the older map and replaces it with only the content of the new one?

Scenario: I copy FolderPC to FolderDrive to back-up files.

    FolderPC: FolderDrive

    -File_1 -File_1

    -File_2 -File_2
    -File_5 -File_3

    -File_6

    Scenario 2: FolderDrive will contain...

    -File_1 Renewed

    -File_2 Renewed

    -File_5 New

    -File_6 New

    Scenario 3: FolderDrive will contain...

    -File_1 Renewed

    -File_2 Renewed

    -File_3
    -File_5 New

    -File_6 New

And to elaborate, which option applies to the underlying folders when copying the whole above folder?

    :)

Software to monitor a folder, backup, then delete?

Is there such a software that will allow the monitoring of a folder to not only backup, but also delete the data? For example, if I was to have a netbook, and it has the built-in card adapter for my camera, I can just copy all the files over to the netbook in a specific folder (ie, ::Temp Pictures), then the next time it connects to the internet/network it will search the folder for any new files, copy them over to my main PC, then delete the Temp Pictures data?

I've been looking into doing this, googling and whatnot, and it seems like there are a LOT of options for monitoring folders for updates, new data, copying, etc, but I haven't quite found one that allows you to delete after copying.

Thanks! *Smile Does copying folders delete older files in old folder with the same name? :)

0 byte folder cannot be deleted Problem

    I have a 0 byte folder and I can't delete it. I'm using win 7 64 bit.
    please help *Cry

It says access denied when trying, please login as admin blah blah msgs....

I've searched the net for hours, Trying unlocker, fileassassin, and all other 'file deleter' programs out there. tried on safe mode, tried the cmd commands, even in cmd it says access denied, tried the closing explorer.exe and doing the command. I tried changing permissions and atrributes and it says you do not have permission to view or edit this objects permission settings. I logged in as the Administrator and still no hope.

the folder originally contained all my movies but since then i moved(using the move command) all of them someplace else(on another hdd) and I thought it was gone but the folder is still there, 0 bytes. It was shared when i deleted it and still appeared on the shared folders list but inaccessible coz it was already deleted so i 'unshared' the folder from the shared folders list. and so the problem began. the folder is still there and it is undeletable

One surefire way to do it without deleting my files is copying all other files to another HDD and reformat it and copy it back again but my hdd is currently contains 1 tb out of 1.36 and i dont have any hdds with that free space to use.

ALSO I CAN'T OPEN THE FOLDER it says

    Location is not available

    'directory' is not accessible.
    Access is Denied.

i think its more of a windows glitch than a virus problem

help??? *Frown Does copying folders delete older files in old folder with the same name? :(
