Windows 10: Distorted Audio after last Windows Update on Dell Inspiron 14 Plus Realtek Audio

Recently I've noticed that my audio gets distorted when playing things at any reasonable volume. Tried rebooting, then checked my audio drivers and it says I'm up to date, based on Windows Updates. Apparently on 1/9, my pc was updated to 2024-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems KB5034123. I'm wondering if there's potentially an issue with the audio driver in that version that's causing the distortion, or if just randomly my speaker decided to die on me. My laptop is essentially a desktop - I leave it on the desk and only take it off when traveling last

Noise or Distortion in my Laptop Audio

Hi Microsoft Community,

After updating my Dell Inspiron 7373 Realtek Audio Device, a very irritating noise/distortion speaker sound showed up and Idk why??? I rolled back the audio device driver but nothing happened, by the way.

Trouble with Replacing Cirrus Logic Audio Driver with Realtek on Dell Inspiron 3501

Dell has an automatic driver updating thing. Use that to update drivers for your laptop.

Your laptop was designed in 2020, the whole world was having supplier problems. So Dell put in any audio chipsets that were available.

Read the Dell inspiron 3501 service manual (page 78-79), some 3501 laptops come with realtek audio chip and some 3501 laptops come with cirrus logic audio chip.

Of course you are not going to be able to install realtek audio driver on a laptop with a cirrus logic audio chip.

 

Dell Inspiron 16 microphone and audio problem

I have recently purchased a dell Inspiron 16 plus and have an issue with microphone and audio since the beginning.

I contacted dell support but nothing helped.

The audio problem is that I hear the distorted sound quite often. It's not constant but I always hear on start up sound as well.

The microphone is not working well. When I test it, it is only 5 to 10 % of performance.

I did uninstall and update the audio drivers. Even reset my PC and update all BIOS and drivers I could find through dell support assist and on Dell's website.

The dell support is a kind of hit and miss and some of them told me to give up on it. I would really appreciate your help. Thank you in advance.
