Windows 10: Displaying recently used folders in Quick access in File Explorer Win 10

Until recently the Quick Access list at the top of the left pane of Windows File Explorer has displayed a list of 4 or 5 folders/Subfolders that are the folders that I have been using most often recently. This list has disappeared recently - I don't know what caused it to go. How do I reactivate this feature? It seemed to have some intelligence in working out the list - it didn't change an entry in the list when I first went to a subfolder but did if I went to the same folder a number of timesAndy

File explorer - how many recently used folders in quick access

Hi, in Windows 10, File explorer there is a new Quick access area with pinned folder and Recently/frequent used folders - the question is, can it be more than 4 recently used folder in this list?

Quick Access Crashes Explorer

Quick Access is a new feature in Windows 10 File Explorer navigation pane which helps users quickly navigate to locations which are frequently used. However, if you're having issues with Quick Access, you can try to disable and enable it. To disable Quick
Access, follow these steps:

• Type File Explorer Option in the search box.
• Click on File Explorer Options.
• Under General tab, choose This PC in the Open File Explorer to: drop down menu.
  
• Uncheck Show recently used files in Quick access and
  Show frequently use folders in Quick access.
• Click Apply an OK.
• Restart the computer and re-enable Quick access.

Let us know how it goes after performing the suggested troubleshooting steps.

 

Win 10 Quick Access mixes frequent folders and recent files


Hello,

I've learned to like the "Quick Access" feature of Win 10. Recently it has shown a strange trait. That is, instead of listing my "frequent folders" in a list in a pane at the top of the window and "recent files" in a pane at the bottom at the bottom of the window (in a separate pane), both "frequent folders" and "recent files" show up on the same detail list (in a single pane).

Likewise, the entries are all sorted by name instead of (recent) date, as I would like.

Here is a sample (imaged grabbed from Internet) of how it should look. ("Recent folders" in a separate pane at the top and "recent files" at the bottom. This is how I want my Quick Access window to look again.





How can I get Quick access to once again separate the "recent folders" from the "recent files"... and make them sort by "most recent date first"?

By the way, I tried "restore defaults" but that was to no avail.
