Windows 10: DISM-Command Prompt error 87

    DISM-Command Prompt error 87


    File Explorer was not responding so I followed Microsoft Support online instructions to run DISM to restore health - Result was Error Code 87 - again, following MS instructions to try it in Safe Mode - All I saw was a black screen with scattered icons - nothing happened for 8-10 minutes.I used Power/ Restart and Windows opened in normal boot after a long time.However, problem with File Explorer not responding still exists. I had been attempting to Rename a downloaded file in Quick Access when I discovered that nothing was working in F. Explorer.Any advice? Using desktop - Windows 10 - 21H1

    DISM - Parameter "Cleanup-Image" is not known (error 87)

    Hello Eric,

    To troubleshoot your concern, we suggest that you run DISM Restore Health command. Refer to the steps provided below:

    • Open Command Prompt (Administrator).
    • Type the following command:
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    3. Press Enter.

    Missing Files - Dism.exe Error 87

    Hi

    Im having the same issue. I tried the directions you gave Larry

    Sfc reported no errors so I moved onto the next step.

    Dism cane back with error 87

    The online/cleanup-image is unknown.

    For more information refer to the help by running dism.exe/?

    I did run that and found an online option to which i also recieved an error code 87

    Not sure where to go from here.
