  1. Discovered what the Mysterious Update item in startup that claims to be from github is.

after seeing this weird Update item in the startup on task manager I decided to see what it was and saw a lot of people here had no clue what added it. I managed to figure it out by doing the following:

    1. In task manager, I right-clicked the strange Update item and clicked Open File Location
    2. Seeing it was a .exe file I got concerned but proceeded and Right-clicked and clicked Properties where I got my answer.

In Properties is where my confusion got solved the EXE is from the messaging, and chatting service app is known as Discord many people use this app to chat with people and stream or chat while gaming. the spot in properties that indicated it was where it said

Location: "C:\Users\account name\AppData\Local\Discord". This is what allowed me to realize this is the Updater Discord uses when it starts up so if you have discord open on startup this runs with discord at the same time to update it during startup tho it appears discord made an error and left this visible instead of having it tied to the single startup item listed as Discord as they have in the past. Knowing this I intend to alert discord to my findings that I'm posting here and hope this helps all the people who were concerned this was a virus. I have attached a photo below of my end as proof of my findings. Hope this helps everyone. Microsoft Acquires GitHub?

Okaaaayyyy.... Maybe we should start making a list of alternatives to GitHub?

Also, GitHub is a private company, but who owns it? Who gets money from this move?
