Windows 10: Discord call muting other sounds

So I have this problem where whenever I join a Discord call or any voice call, the rest of my audio is muted, such as in-game audio, Spotify, YouTube videos, etc. The only thing that seems to work is disabling my mic, but it's annoying that I have to constantly enable and disable my mic. The things that I tried: - Reinstalling my audio drivers - Updating all my audio drivers - Check Discord to see if it is the main issue - Troubleshooting - Reinstall old audio drivers The headphone that I'm using is the Hyperx Cloud Stinger.

Windows 10 Notification Sound

So you turned off windows sounds ????

And you muted the sound in Discord settings????

So you are stating that you just hear this sound out of the blue for discord.

Or when it is open, it makes a sound when you get a response from someone.

It is a chat type of app isn't it ????

If you also get a notification pop up with the sound, then right click sound icon in taskbar tray and select Volume mixer and select the mute for the Discord app.

Or if you want no sound while communicating with someone using it, do the same thing in previous step above. Mute it.

 

Sound won't come back after muting


Problem:

Plugging headphones (Sound plays) -> Muting -> Unmuting -> Sound doesn't play anymore

Fix (No restart required)

Sound doesn't play -> Mute (with headphones in) -> Unplug headphones ->Unmute (with headphones out) -> Mute (with headphones out) -> Plug headphones -> Unmute (with headphones in).

This is the shortest pattern I could find. Important to follow step by step. It might not work because I have no idea why it works on my end (without starting conspiracy theories about boolean variables being out of sync on the audio driver, which would be the most embarassing thing ever for whoever wrote these drivers).

 

Muted mic picking up sound in game

The issue could be because of the internal mic picking up sound even when the external device is pluuged in. If you have the RealTek HD Audi Manager installed on the machine, I would suggest you to try the steps listed below and check if it works for
you.

• Open RealTek HD Audio Manager and go to the
  Advanced tab.
  
• Check the boxes Separate all input jacks as independent input devices
  and Mute the internal output device, when external headphone is plugged in,
  and hit OK.
  
• Exit RealTek HD Audio Manager, restart the machine and see if the issue persists.
