Windows 10: Dell Dock will not engage when plugged into my Dell Laptop when its Lid is already closed.

Honestly this hasn't happened before. I'm running the latest Win 10 update and drivers are up to date as I check them regularly. My computer is set to do nothing when the lid is closed. I Used to be able to just plug my dock in while my laptops lid is closed and everything would fire up. Now I have to open the lid to get the dock to make any kind of communication with the laptop possible. I DID have my motherboard replaced not too long ago because my previous was doing weird things.Any ideas?

There's a very thin ribbon cable that sends the signals to the screen. This can also cause intermittent blank screens. You can test if this is the cause, by hooking up an external monitor. If the laptop screen goes blank, but the external monitor's doesn't, it might be the ribbon cable. Dell Laptop Lid Close Sensor

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 7537 laptop which has a touch screen. I'm having various intermittent issues with the screen going blank which are fixed by opening and closing the lid. I suspect a problem with the lid close sensor but the Dell repair guide doesn't say where this is. How do these switches work and where is it located so I can repair or just disable it?
