Windows 10: Deleted synaptics touchpad on laptop and can’t get it back

I was trying to fix an issue with my touchpad, and deleted the synaptics touchpad thinking it would automatically reinstall after I restarted. However, when I go into device manager now I don’t see it so my touch pad has very little functionality. Is there a way to get it back? I downloaded the driver again but it doesn’t show up in device manager.

We understand the difficulties you are facing with the synaptic touchpad on your PC. In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below.

• What is the Windows 10 version and Build installed? (Type winver in Windows search/Run command)
  
• What is the make and model of the PC?
  

However, we would suggest you to reinstall the touchpad driver.

1. Press Windows +X and select Device Manager.
2. Search and expand Mice and other pointing devices.
3. Right click on the listed driver one by one and select Uninstall device.
4. Check the box beside Delete the driver software for this device and click
   Ok.
5. Follow the onscreen steps and restart the PC.
6. Upon restart the touchpad driver should install automatically, in case it doesn’t install, then go to the manufacturer website and install the touchpad driver for this model.

This issue may occur due to the outdated Synaptics Touchpad drivers. Try the below steps and check if it helps.

I would suggest you to download and install the latest Synaptics Touchpad drivers from the manufacturer’s website and uninstall the Synaptics touchpad drivers and re-install the same again.

Note: Make sure you download and save the TouchPad driver and installed it before uninstalling the same.

To uninstall Synaptic touchpad drivers, follow these steps:

• 
  Press Windows key + X and click on
  Device Manager.
  
• 
  Locate Mice and other pointing devices and expand the same.
  
• 
  Right-click the Synaptic driver and select
  Uninstall. (Note: keep the latest installed Synaptic driver)
