Hope someone can help. The error pops up three or four times a day in Windows 10 and has been doing so for monthsOddly I don't have a d:\ drive. Also, if I happen to have a USB drive plugged in, it correctly gets assigned driver letter D: and the next time the error pops up, it says "E:\ is unavailable...".I'm assuming something is running that is looking for something that was available when I had a USB drive attached but i don't know where to look or what to look for in event viewer that might shed some lightI assume

    :)

  2. D:/ drive unavailable

Hey I am experiencing a problem where my secondary hard drive is unavailable. It's a local HDD inside of the laptop. I can use the laptop normally since windows is on my c:/ drive (SSD) but I cannot access my other files. I keep getting this error message
when trying to access files one the disk.

"D:\ is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or Internet, and then try again. If the
location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted."

Additionally i cannot see the disk on file manager nor disk management. I really hope my files are not lost and how can I fix this problem.

  4. d:\ is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is...

"G:\ is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure ..." when plug in my USB drive

    1. Go to the drive where the Windows is installed, for most users, it's C:\Users (or ).

    2. Open the folder name with your username.

    3. Right-Click on the Desktop and select Properties.

    4. Under the Location tab, click the Restore Default button.

    5. Restart PC.

    If that does not work...

Uninstall and Reinstall the USB Drivers.

    Step 1: Uninstall the Drivers

    a. Press “Windows Logo” + “X” keys on the keyboard.

    b. Click on “Device Manager” from that list.

    c. Search for the USB from the device list, right click on it and then select “Uninstall”. On the un-installation window, if you have an option: “Delete the driver software for this device” you may select that and then remove the corrupted drivers from the
    computer.

    d. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete it and then restart the computer if prompted.

After the restart, please go ahead with the next steps to install the latest drivers and check if that resolves the issue.
