  3. 2020 and ctrl-z problem deleting folders continues

Ctrl+Z will undo the previous action, e.g.

    • When you insert a text into a Word document then Ctrl+Z will undo the insertion.
    • When you create a formula in a spreadsheet then Ctrl+Z will remove the formula.

It seems you expect Ctrl+Z to ask the user whether he really wants to undo the most recent action. This would constitute a major change of philosophy.

  4. Critical File Deletion Risk in Win11 - Ctrl+Z Ruined My Files Without Warning

Why did CTRL+Z delete my file folder without a trace?

When the focus is on File Explorer or the desktop shell, Ctrl + Z will Undo the last file operation, such as the delete, rename, move, or copy. Ctrl + Y will redo the last operation. I agree this feature can be annoying at times. If we accidentally hit Ctrl + Z, the explorer shell undoes the last operation silently. We wouldn't even know that it happened. The only way to disable Ctrl + Z and Ctrl + Y in the explorer environment is by using the registry.

To recover the accidentally deleted files, use Recuva or a similar undelete tool.
