    Corrupt User Profile in Windows 10 . User Data stored on C and D Drive

    I have copied all the data current user folder on both C and D drive to a USB Drive, but the forums do not address whether the C drive which contains folder like APPDATA , NTUSER, ansel, ans where the D drive user folder is primarily where user data files except it has Adobe, Cyberlink, Dell . are both to be copied bask to the new user profile in full or just the user files only ?

    :)

    Move my c:/Users/{profile} to the D:/users/{profile}

    I have an SSD as the C: drive. and a large HDD as the D: drive.

    Windows 10 Pro Version 1909

    I want to keep the stuff I do not use all the time off the SSD drive.

    I have two users Admin and {J} account.

    I want to move the working data for the {j} account to D:/users/{j} . This would be repeated for any other users.

    I tried to copy c:/Users to D:/Users and fix the Registry

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

    Fields:

    Default to D:\Users\Default

    ProfilesDirectory to D:\Users

    Public to D:\Users\Public

    ...\ProfileList\S-1-S... to D:\Users|\{j}

    After Reboot was not able to login.

    ----

    Tried to change locations of {j} and the Location tab is not visible.

    ---

    What is the best practice for moving all the data to the D: drive?

    What if I later get a USB optical drive and reboot with it plugged in is it going to grab the D: drive mapping?

    I have read about the mklink command and want to know if I should link the C:\Users\{j} to D:\Users\{j}. or should I link the individual directories?

    I know that the Users directory on the D: drive has no system meaning but I want to group the users for backup purposes.

    Windows 10 start menu not working/Maybe have a corrupt user profile

    upgraded to Windows 10 Pro, start menu button along with search bar, notifications, sound slider and notifications stopped working a few days ago. however, I am able to right click on the start button to pull up functions. Task bar apps also work.

    there is another user profile on the same computer and everything works fine. So, in doing some research in the forums, it may be possible by user profile is corrupt.

    I will need to transfer my profile settings to a new account. I would like to keep the same user name for the new account. If I rename the corrupted account will the folders also be renamed?

    also another thing to note is my user profiles are on a solid state drive (CCorrupt User Profile in Windows 10 . User Data stored on C and D Drive :) and my data is on another hard drive a Data Drive (DCorrupt User Profile in Windows 10 . User Data stored on C and D Drive :)

    need a little step by step in transferring the profile. I think I'm know how to do this, but need to be sure.

    Thanks

    Windows 7 to 10 update keeping OS on C and users on D

    I'm back to running Windows 7 on my system. Along time ago, I moved the Windows 7 user profiles from c:/users/... to d:/users?... When I updated to Windows 10 (Get Windows 10), the update worked, but it created and used a new profile on the OS drive (cCorrupt User Profile in Windows 10 . User Data stored on C and D Drive :). Went back to Windows 7, and everything is fine. I need to know how to end up with a Windows 10 install that keeps and uses my existing user profiles. Perhaps it's a two step process... update from 7 to 10 and then reconnect or point to the old user profiles.

    Thanks in advance,
    Ed (petyalor)
