Windows 10: Continuous Update Loop for 2 Months

A while ago, I turned on the metered connection on my Windows 10 laptop because I didn’t have enough data to update it regularly. It’s been around 7–8 months since then. About 2 months ago, I turned off the metered connection and tried to update, but I keep getting a message saying, "Your device is missing important quality fixes and security features."One particular update keeps failing—it progresses to about 7–8% complete, then the laptop restarts and displays a message saying it couldn’t complete the update. I’ve tried everything, from troubleshooting, stopping and starting update services,

Intel Updates Core 2 Quad Q9550 to E-0 Stepping

We continue our Monday news list with another Intel story that brings to our attention information concerning the company and more specificly its 2.83GHz Core 2 Quad Q9550 chips that will move from the current C-1 to the newer E-0 stepping. The updated chips will start selling on August 22nd, featuring the following changes:

• New SSpec and MM numbers for the converting products
• CPUID will change from 0x10677 to 0x1067A
• Package change to Halide free package

Apart from that, the new stepping CPUs will not include any other changes. Of course, like most new stepping parts a BIOS update will be needed.

KB4074588 in a continuous loop of "Awaiting Restart"

I ran the Updates Troubleshooter tool and while I am no longer getting a restart loop for
KB4093112 or KB4074588, I am now getting a continued loop of this:





Each time I click Check for Updates, the above message continually appears.

How do I fix this?

 

My pointer continues to disappear every 2 or 3 months.

Outdated driver is one of the usual reasons why you're experiencing this issue. We would appreciate if you could provide more details about it. Considering that the issue is happening every 2 or 3 months, can you confirm any changes that you've made or noticed
prior to the issue?

In the meantime, we recommend running the troubleshooter for for hardware as it can help in identifying the root cause of the issue and provide appropriate fix for it. Kindly follow the steps below to do it (You can skip this steps if you've already tried
it):

• Open Settings.
• Choose Update & security, then click
  Troubleshoot.
• Under Find and fix other problems, click
  Hardware and Devices.
• Click Run the troubleshooter tab and follow the on-screen instructions.
