Windows 10: Conhost.exe running at 30% CPU

Split from this thread. Hello there, I've been having the exact same problem as the OP on my Windows 10 laptop. All drivers and windows are up to date as well. Tried all the procedures suggested as well and the problem still persists. That is, conhost.exe takes around 30% of CPU processing and temperature goes to 95C steady. As soon as I open Task Manager, temperature drops back to the usual 65C and conhost.exe becomes inactive. I was able to find out conhost.exe is the culprit through Remote Process Explorer.I've been using my computer with Task Manager opened since. Please help.

Offline scan found nothing

SFC scan found nothing

Both DISM cleanups found nothing

disk cleanup found nothing

tried reboot sequence and after disabling all startup services and apps the process was still showing conhost at 35% cpu load

Hello, these past few weeks ive been having a strange problem with Conhost.exe constantly running at 30-35% even when sitting at the desktop with minimal apps running. I have tried multiple windows reinstalls and SFC scans in the command prompt but nothing has seemed to fix the problem. i can view the cpu usage both through NZXT cam and NVIDIA monitoring and both seem to show the same thing.

The only strange thing is that opening windows task manager seems to fix the problem as my cpu usage drops to only 5-6% but once WTM is closed the cpu usage spikes back up to 30-35%.

I have noticed that my computer is running 2-3 different applications of Conhost.exe, including 1 instance being run by NZXT cam itself but attempting to close these results in a message from the systems saying that closing the program with force a restart. looking at file locations on the conhost programs reveal that all 3 come from the windows 32 folder in the computer.

I encountered this problem on windows 10 and upgraded to windows 11 hoping that the problem would be fixed but it has not worked.

Spec are:

AMD ryzen 7 3700x

Geforce Nvidia 2080 super

MSI B550-A pro motherboard

samsung SSD 970 evo plus

4x Teamgroup inc UD4-3200 DDR4
