computer fan comes on, but then stays on

My PC built last spring, works great. However, if I play a game or watch a video, the fan noise gets very loud. I assume it's detecting a heat issue and trying to cool off something inside. And this is fine, but when the game/video ends, the fans stay on forever. What would cause the fan to not spin down once the heat issue has dissipated? I assume the heat is gone because the fans will run forever. If I reboot they go back to normal every time.

    :)

  2. Fan comes on and stays on after shutting down computer.

Hi, I have a Lenovo K330b and recently this problem started. When I shut down the computer, the fan starts. The fan will run all night if I don't unplug it.

    TIA, Michael

    • Carefully blow out the dust from all the vents on the sides and underneath.
    • Only use laptops on hard surfaces without any coverings on that surface.
    • If it is a rattle / clicking type noise then it will need a Technician to replace the fan and completely clean out any dust / hair or other debris that may be trapped within the laptops casings and fan assembly.

Fans and keyboard lights stay on when hibernating or sleeping

    Hi,

Thank you for coming back to us with the current status.

To understand the issue better, I would like to know what is the make and model of the computer?

Let’s try running power troubleshooter and check if it helps.

    Method 1.

It will find and fix problems with your computers power settings. Follow the below steps to run Power troubleshooter.

    • Press Windows + X keys on the keyboard and select Control Panel

    • Type Troubleshooting in the search bar on the Control Panel.

    • Click on View all on the left navigation pane.

    • Click on Power.

    • Click on Advanced on the Power dialog box and click on Run as administrator (Enter the credentials if required).

    • Click on Next and follow onscreen instruction complete the Power troubleshooter.
If the issue persist, try the below step.

    Method 2.

I recommend you to uninstall/reinstall the display driver and check. Follow the below steps:

    • Press Windows key + X and click on
      Device manager
      .

    • Locate for display adapter and click on it to expand.

    • Right click on the device and click on
      uninstall
      .

    • Once you install the driver restart the computer. It will automatically install the generic network adapter.
If this doesn’t help to fix the issue. I suggest you to update the display driver. Skip step3 from the above steps and right click on the
    device and click on update.

If the above method did not help to fix the issue, try the below method.

    Method 3.

I would recommend you to update the chipset driver manually from device manager.

If the issue still persist, I suggest you to go to the BIOS and check the settings. You can also contact computer manufacture for BIOS setup.

Disclaimer: Modifying BIOS/ complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting
from the configuring of BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Modifications of the settings are at your own risk.

Hope this helps. Keep posting us with status we will be glad to help you.
