    Command prompt popping up and disappearing immediately Windows 10


    Hi,I keep getting a Windows 10 Command prompt window appears and disappears. It opens up and closes as quickly as it popped up. In the cmd window it says "C:\Users\5480\AppData\Roaming\fhvesgi"Any help would be appreciated.

    command prompt pops up for no reason

    Hi Les, if the Command Prompt window pops up and immediately disappears, this was a known issue a while back (November 2017), the culprit was Microsoft Office!

    The fix at the time was:

    Click your Start Button, type task and choose Task Scheduler from the resulting list

    In Task Scheduler, expand the Task Scheduler Library, - Microsoft, - Office.

    Right-click on 'OfficeBackgroundTaskHandlerRegistration' and select 'Disable'

    That should not be happening but it's a different issue...that may be fixed running sfc /scannow. I suspect corrupted files there.
