  1. Clipchamp now taking 12+ hours to import video files

I've been using Clipchamp for nearly a year now with minimal issue. About two weeks ago, the app updated like usual and ever since my file imports are now taking an insane amount of time. As an example, a one minute clip can take around 60 minutes to import. Nothing has changed in my setup, I'm still using the same phone to record in the same way, using the same laptop which hasn't been modified in any way during the last few weeks. The only thing that happened, as mentioned, is Clipchamp ran an update like usual.I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, Resetting the app in the Programs menu

    :)

  2. Clipchamp won't open vertical files

I get an error that says "Unable to import some media" whenever I try to open the video files i need to rotate. These files are MP4 but were filmed vertically and I want to rotate them in Clipchamp. My other files that are already horizontal import with no problem. All files are MP4 format and from the same camera and in the same folder. I have tried the desktop and browser versions of Clipchamp. I have tried drag and drop, import from Clipchamp, and right clicking the file and saying open in Clipchamp. I get he same error each way and only on the vertical files. I have tried swapping the created video format from 16:9 to 9:16 but this had no different outcome.
I can play the video rotated in windows media player but it doesn't save the rotation. I need to be able to share and edit the videos after rotating. How can I rotate videos in Windows 11?

    Clipchamp won't open vertical files

    Hi Mark,

Thank you for writing us here in Microsoft Community.

I would like to set your expectations ahead that Clipchamp is a third-party video editing software developed by Clipchamp Pty Ltd. Nonetheless, I would be more than glad to extend a helping hand for you.

To troubleshoot this issue, I would recommend in trying the following steps:

    • Temporarily disable installed Antivirus or VPN program
    • Convert the File: If the video files are not loading at all, you can try to convert them again to mp4 using a video converter tool, save the converted file versions, and then add them to your Clipchamp project.
    • Check for Updates: Make sure that your Clipchamp application is up-to-date. You can do this by opening Microsoft Store, clicking on Library, and then clicking on Update Clipchamp or Update all
    • Check for System Updates: Select Start > Settings > Windows Update. Select Check for updates. Install any available and pending updates and restart your device
    • Run System File Checker (SFC) and Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM): These tools can check for any system errors and corrupted files. Here's how to do it: Press Win + R, enter “cmd,” and click OK to open Command Prompt. Type the command “sfc /scannow” and press Enter to initiate the scan. Once finished, restart your computer and launch Clipchamp to check.
    • Press Start Menu then search Clipchamp Right click it then select App setting > Advance options > Click Terminate > Repair > Reset and Uninstall Clipchamp > Open Microsoft Store then search Clipchamp
      Click Install
    • Check for optional driver updates of Windows 11: Go to Start Menu > Settings > Windows update > Advanced options > Optional updates > Put check mark on each driver updates > Apply > Restart computer > Check ClipChamp

Should issue persists, please contact the Clipchamp support through this link: How to get in touch with Clipchamp support - Microsoft Support

I trust that the information I have shared will be useful for you.

    Yours truly,

Clipchamp now taking 12+ hours to import video files

With the new update that removes Video Editor for Clipchamp, where will the unfinished videos in Video Editor go to?

I use Video Editor to work on various video projects for work. And while I have a copy of the finished videos, it is nice to have the unfinished version in the Video Editor library so that I can always go back and change the audio, add a frame, etc. My concern is that with this new update coming up, Microsoft is getting rid of Video Editor in favor of Clipchamp. Where will all my unfinished videos be stored now? Will they automatically transfer over to Clipchamp or is there a way to back up the unfinished file to then import into Clipchamp?
