I cannot change the username from the user settings in the control panel. The option is not present to change the username. I tried netplwiz and lusrmgr.msc but couldn't do it.Why this is so difficult??

  2. "Change User Name" Not Appearing as Option in Windows 10 User Setting

The good news is you can still do it through the old reliable Control Panel

This seems not to work on Windows 10 Home (or Pro for that matter, both build 16299.248)... Control Panel is not listed in the WIN+X menu (signed in as Administrator). I did get the good old Control Panel by just clicking on the Windows Key and typing Control
Panel. However, the name change option is not there in Windows 10 Home for the standard user account I'm trying to rename. Over on my Windows 10 Pro PC I can only change the name of my original setup account which got changed to standard after everything was
set up. I added an administrator account for those few times when you have to be logged in as administrator, and that one does not give a name change option. Unnecessarily complicated I think.

    Another option:

Open Run by Windows+R, enter lusrmgr.msc and hit OK to open Local Users and Groups. This DOES work on Windows 10 Pro, but it DOES NOT work on Windows 10 Home to change user names both standard and administrator.

That's my experience so far. Still trying to rename a standard user on Windows 10 Home.
