Windows 10: can't scroll news stories on msn home page

When on MSN home page I can't scroll news stories by clicking the arrow.

Unable to disable msn news from showing trending stories in my search menu

After a recent Windows update I've noticed that every time I open the search menu it shows me a list of trending stories from msn's lifestyle. This is prior to entering any type of search query, so it's not showing them as search results, but rather as weird
click bait type articles injected directly into my system. I have disabled "Show suggestions occasionally in Start", but that has not helped. Clicking any of the links directs me to the msn news page, with no option to disable them.

I simply want to stop news stories from being directly injected into my systems menu. The column on the right titled "Lifestyle news" is specifically what I'm talking about.

Problem with featured story in msn news app

I originally had the problem with the app that was already installed when I got the computer. Then I replaced it from the Windows store, after noting this problem in the past. There have not been any recent changes to my system prior to the issue, whether
in the past or more recently. I don't visit the msn news app often. The tile itself seems to have updated stories scrolling by and all the other stories are new, when I open the app. It's just the featured story on the far left that is old. I tried to use
the "refresh" from within the app, but it didn't update the featured story. Isn't there some easy way for me to get the featured story to update????

 

Stop MSN as Home Page

I found out how to do this. I have tried different versions on changing settings and home pages and discovered when you try to set a new home page, what Windows 10 does is to add the new address as a tab at the top of the page but still opens with MSN. What the sites have not said is that the MSN address is still there and is top in the list. It is an address that has the word about in it. It would not let me move that address to the bottom of the list and the only way I got my Google homepage that I wanted was to click on the X to the right of the about address and delete it. Now when I open up, my desired home page comes up and I don't have to look at MSN's bias headlines.
