Windows 10: Can't reset a program to open a certain file

I tried to open a certain file .Civ6Save with a Notepad to change something but accidentally I left the "always open this file with this program" box checked, so now every .Civ6File opens with Notepad.The thing is, because of this, my game is not working anymore and it simply won't load anything, it opens up to an infinite black screen.I tried looking up online and discovered that you can reset this thing, which I did, but it didn't change the .Civ6Save file, it is still Notepad, and I can't find how to revert it manually

opening .dds files with gimp

Simply, HOW? I got the DDS plugin but the POS wont open DDS files still. Can someone give me a step-by-step rundown of how to install the DDS plugin for gimp so I know if I'm missing something?
