Windows 10: Can't install any network adapter

Hello everyone,


it's been a week since i've discovered that i'm unable to install any network adapter drivers. Everytime i try to install one, it times out. I tried disabling Windows Defender Firewall but it doesn't fix this issue. I don't have any security software/antivirus outside of Windows Defender. I don't use any VPN. I can update other drivers without any problems, just the network adapters are bugged. I tried to use the "Reset the network" button in the network settings but the same problem occurs. I used a restoration point to come back where my ethernet and WLAN work.


I discovered this issue when i tried to install Hamachi and PulseSecure on my PC. Both would get stuck in the installation and wouldn't be able to install their respective network adapter.


My PC is a Lenovo ideapad Y700-17ISK.
Ethernet adapter : Realtek PCIe GBE Family controller
WLAN adapter : IntelR Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165

I asked for help on the lenovo website a few days ago and had no answer yet, that's why i'm asking here.

Install a driver for your network adapter

Go to the list of network adapters in the control panel, turn of the lan and turn it on again. See if that helps.

Method 2: Download and install the latest firmware updates for the Network adapter

Follow these steps to un-install the drivers:

• On the search bar type “ Device Manager”
• On the left pane locate “Network Adapter” and expand by clicking on it
• Right on the “ Network driver” option and click “Uninstall’
• Download the latest Wireless network adapter driver setup file from the manufacturer’s website and install it.

Issues with network adapters

To resolve this issue, we suggest that you run the Network troubleshooter when you switch from WiFi to Ethernet connection. The Network troubleshooter can help diagnose and fix common connection problems including clearing the network cache to obtain a new
IP from the new network. Kindly follow the steps below:

• In the search box on the taskbar, type Identify and repair network problems, and then select
  Identify and repair network problems from the list of results.
• Follow the steps in the troubleshooter and see if that fixes the problem.
