Windows 10: Can't download tunein radio from MS store to valid device listed in account, MS says I...

I just recently upgraded a Lumia 1520 to 14393.2551 build, the highest release from MS for this device.


One of the few apps I do use is TuneIn radio, but for some reason I can't find it in the list of apps if I select the 'store' tile on the phone. But if I go to google and search via the browser and subsequently to the MS store from there it shows up and even says for, "Windows 10 Mobile version 14393.0 or higher." My Lumia is listed in my MS account and I have logged into that account for Store access and the browser knows this and reflects that, but when I try to download the app I get the dreaded 'where do you want to install? It looks like you don't have any applicable devices linked to your Microsoft account. To install, sign in on a device with your Microsoft account."


I'm signed in on the phone but for some reason MS is having a problem acknowledging that the app works on this device?


Tunein isn't the only problem I've found with this issue, but for me it's the one I need resolved.


And before I get "use the recovery tool" this phone was just upgraded to 10 yesterday and all the updates have been applied subsequently.

Any suggestions?

Devices list under MS account

I have a desktop PC plus an XBOX one. Both signed into my MS account. Until today (well that's when I first noticed) both the PC and the XBOX one are listed under 'My Devices' when I login to the account.microsoft.com

However now the XBOX one listing is missing. And it won't seem to re-appear. I tried checking for other devices and nothing picks up. I logged out of MS account and then back in on the XBOX one and still no joy. Any ideas why this might be occurring? I ended up manually registering the device and adding the serial number. Which after a while made it appear under 'my devices'. Although it still doesn't appear under 'Devices with apps and games that you downloaded from the Store', I can only see my PC still.

Odd change in MS account list of devices

Interesting. You are correct - they did say VMware version xxx but now they do not.

For me, VirtualBox (red) is still described as "VirtualBox". VMware (green) and Hyper-V (yellow) both say the generic "Virtual Machine"

It is definitely retained anyway. My Hyper-V VMs (Yellow above) are local accounts as they are for playing with insider builds. I always clean install and they always activate.

I also have more (old unused but activated) VMs that that are linked to this MS account and don't appear. I think the website shows recently connected VMs but isn't really tied to activation or license. It would be hard to test that though but I'll resurrect an old one and see.

 

Odd change in MS account list of devices

I was just checking my list of devices in my MS account, and I noticed two od things.

1) My Hyper-V virtual machines are just listed generically as "virtual machines" whereas they always used to be listed as "Hyper-V virtual machines". I liked it that way so I could tell Hyper-V machines separately from VMWARE VMS.

2) One of my VMs is now still listed in my MS account, even though I changed it to a local account. Previously device was always removed if you changed from MSA to local account. This is a good move assuming it is a change, not a glitch as this means the digital licence link will be retained if you changed to a local account for any reason.
