  1. Cant change resolution to 1080p@144hz after moving pc to a different place

Hello,I recently moved my pc to a different place and since then my monitor resolution is stuck to 1440x900@60hz resolution and I cant set it higher. I have NVIDIA GTX 1060 graphics card and my monitor is asus VG248 which has a max resolution of 1920x1080@144hz and im connecting my monitor and my pc with displayport cable. I tried many things:1. Changing resolution through display settings: - I cant, max I can choose is 1440x900 and refresh rate 60hz.2. Trying a different displayport cable: - Same result, no difference3. Trying a HDMI cable: - This actually works, I can select 1920 x 108

    Is there a difference between 144Hz and 144Hz Gsync/Freesync ?

I want to know if anyone here has first used 144Hz monitor at 144FPS and then used 144Hz monitor with Gsync or Freesync at 144FPS and if they saw any difference.

I feel some of the people flipping out about it stepped up from 60hz panels. Moving from a normal 60hz to a normal 144hz panel is a huge change alone. I wonder if some are giving more credit to these technologies then they deserve.I am not trying to discredit the technologies I am just curious if some of the hype is just peoples first experience with 144hz.

  3. Why does my refresh rate change when tabbing into a game from 144hz to 120hz?

The desktop refresh rate of the monitor (a samsung odyssey g7) is set to 144hz. When I tab into a game it changes from 144hz to 120hz. It seems to only be a fullscreen 1440p issue. 4k fullscreen does not change the refresh rate. neither does 1080p. The active resolution does change when tabbing into a game when it is 1440p 144hz. I have set the active resolution and display resolution of the monitor to 2560x1440 and when I tab into a game the screen goes black and the active resolution changes to 3840x2160 but the desktop resolution stays the same.

    Is there a difference between 144Hz and 144Hz Gsync/Freesync ?

Differences? OF course there are. G-Sync/Freesync helps with frame skipping that V-Sync had and removes screen tearing. Simples. It doesn't matter what refresh rate its at, it still does the same thing.
